December and it was Santa event again. this turned out to be the busiest day we have ever had with record visitors. A new donation box to help us keep the railway and traction en gines running and keep the site neat and tidy. Santa duly arrived and together with his helpers took a train to his Grotto with lots of ho-ho-hoing and waving to the visitors who had arrived early. Poor Santa then spent a very long day in his Grotto as the queues of children got longer and longer and didn't subside until around 3:30. Unfortunately, we didnt have time to take more photos.
Early December we suffered some tree damage from the storms so we had an inspection by our local tree surgeon and assessed that a number of trees needed to be felled and a number of overhanging branches needed to be removed. The tree surgeon did a very professional job as you will see when you are next at the forge. We had no power for a cuppa so had to improvise using some of the felled branches to boil the kettle, it was a slow process ! Here are some photos :
September saw us very busy running 3 sometimes 4 locos to keepthe visitors happy.
Sheffield Steam Rally and our traction engine owners were taking a rest after a busy day of steaming around the site. A beer or two needed for 'lubrication' !
